Retail Therapy
By Oscar S. Cisneros

Shop, shop, shop, shop, shop!
She shops to feel better
And she's got the bucks to drop
When she wants a brand new sweater.

She picks a too small a dress
To match her fine Italian purses.
In the booth she gets undressed;
She's a size too big and curses.

The mirror speaks no lies
But still she is deceived.
In her dazzling colored eyes
Insecurity is conceived.

She goes back to the rack
Where she hopes that she will find
Something colored black
To hide what she calls a large behind.

In truth she is a beauty
Right from a childhood fable
But still she hates her booty.
As a critic she is able.

I want to touch her chin
And pull her face real close to mine
In her eyes I'd search within
And remind her she's divine.

Shop, shop, shop, shop, shop!
She can't find what she desires
The item's not in stock.
All they sell here is attire.
